It's Been a While.......

It has been a very long while since I last posted anything on this blog since I started it back in 2012. So much has happened since then which left me without time to devote to this blog. I was just finishing my Masters degree and switched jobs a year later. The new job has me traveling quite a bit. All of these things have kept me from my first intentions with this blog which is to produce a blog that would be edifying and accurate to my faith and hopefully the faith of others. I have so many things I now want to write about in the upcoming months that I am going to try and post at least one blog post a week and see how it goes. Most of the time the posts will be based on my Christian faith, book reviews, Bibles, studies I am doing at the time, and what is on my mind. I hope you will come along on this journey and interact with me as that is how friendships grow and community begins. I am looking forward to hearing from you the readers on any possible articles you would like me to

Are you a Cultural Christian?

I am currently re-reading Real Christianity by William Wilberforce and he talks about the state of Christianity and cultural Christians. In his book Wilberforce describes a cultural Christian as one who: Believe themselves to be a good person and are against bad things, your faith is adequate. May not be a Christian, just a moral person. You know some of the basic facts of Christianity but have no idea how those facts should apply to your life. No understanding of what constitutes authentic faith. You believe your Christian because your family is. When questioning or challenged about your faith you abandon your "inherited" faith you are unable to defend. Think one's faith is a private matter and should not be spoken of so publicly. Everything is subjective. Your conduct is not measured against the standard set by the gospel. You do not read or study your Bible. The content of the Bible is a mystery to you. Claim belief in the bible as the Word of God and

What is the Beginning of Wisdom

The title of this blog comes from the book Real Christianity by William Wilberforce. In his book in chapter four he discusses what the beginning of wisdom is: "The problem that we see in our time is that because there is so little reverence for or sense of the holiness of God, we have no basis on which to take sin seriously. It is the understanding of the greatness of God that creates in the human heart the desire to please him in all things and tries not to offend Him in anything. Such an attitude knows no arbitrary levels of offense. This is why such an attitude is called "the beginning of wisdom" in the Bible (Ps.111:10; see also Prov. 1.7)    It is my hope that in creating this blog I can honor God in what I write and hope to help others that may struggle with the same things I do. This blog will discuss theology, books I have read that have made an impact on my Christian life, real world issues and problems and how we face them as Christians. In addition, th
